Beautiful flowers at the farm.  This is a Spotted Coral Root orchid. It looks like red asparagus when it first pops out of the ground!  This common across most of Canada.

As you can see, this orchid does not photosynthesize.  It’s known as a “myco-heterotroph”.  It’s a vascular plant that has a parasitic relationship with fungi, often fungi in the family Russulaceae.  Pretty cool, eh?
