Sometimes we see white spruce (Picea glauca) and lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) growing up together. The trees are so markedly different in their morphology. We don’t have that many lodgepole pine trees at the farm.
Mostly, we have white spruce, black spruce (Picea mariana), trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) and balsam poplar (Populus balsamifera). And willows! Lots and lots of willows. We still need to learn all the different ones we have…
